I'm going to be a mom now, I need to do mom things...

I have the best intentions. But I am a mess, I really am. I want so bad to be that girl who has all homemade curtains, and fresh baked bread. The woman who has the wall decor you saw at the store, but it's bigger, better, cuter and more creative and she made it from scratch. So many times I tell Brandon I want things like this...

But I refuse to pay a whopping $20 on it because I *can* make it for half the price. But for some reason the end result 99.9% of the time is this...

(Sitting in my storage room, been there 6 months)

Block letters of our last name for my family room
(Sitting in this box for the last 5 months)

Apple pie
(Not gunna happen)

Tonight I was turning over a new leaf. I thought to myself, "I'm going to be a mom now, I need to do mom things." Talk is cheap. I just need to sit down and do it. So I decided to hand make all my thank you cards for my baby shower!

Three and a half hours later and only 6 cards finished (still having 31 to go) it's time to face the music. Seriouly who enjoys this? I cut the paper to short, I don't have the right accent color, I need ribbon but don't have any, I want the little puff dots to make the cards 3d but of coarse I don't have any. Buh-hum-bug, too much trouble if you ask me. Needless to say Brandon and I are headed to wally world after this post to buy the remaining thank you cards. I've changed my mind. I don't want to be that girl anymore, she can shove it.

haha agreed! I feel the same way all the time. I pretend I am crafty but honestly it's not true. I rather buy it than make it! :)

My side hurts from laughing! I bought $12 worth of raspberries to make jam and NEVER did. I totally get it!! We all do it.

This is so hilarious. I'm pretty much the same way. I used to try and copy everything I saw in the stores for the same reason(thinking I could do it for half the price)but it always ends up looking half price. I prefer to buy it too nowadays. If only I had some money!

i KNOW EXACTLY how you feel. i have good intentions and never the motivation. although sometimes it happens, just for a moment and then i don't do another thing for a year. and usually i end up spending MORE money trying to make it because i don't have everything just right. this is hilarious.
maybe we should get together more often and make stuff.

I COMPLETELY agree! I want to be all those things, and I came to figure out that if I want to make those things for cheaper I have to spend more time and money than I have. Honestly, for $20 I'd skip the whole glue gun and staples for a trip to Wally and I'd add a movie and popcorn while I was at it.
Love a girl!

that post totally made my night. It was like reading my life story...I even have all the same boxes filled with wonderful little trinkets that will never see the light of day and after having been a mom for 4 years, I still have never made a damn loaf of bread! Love you girl, hope things are going well for you :) Congrats on the little one! You will be an awesome momma!
